Sadly, the loss of my phone on a trip to Bolivia purged all my data on my phone, which housed my 2FA Discord keys (will be discussed later) for all the accounts and bots, photos, and much more. Although I was deeply affected and saddened by the sudden loss of my phone, I didn't let it stop me in my tracks. Back to the image, this is take after most restrictions were lifted, which was also after most of my time at home coding discord bots and other projects also ended.
Prologue
Like many of you now know, the infamous "week" or 2 break due to social distancing and closures of the pandemic began. I was super excited about having a free week off of school. Every kids dream, wake up, play games, eat, self care and sleep. As expected, I played on my xbox all day, mainly GTA V, and Battlefield 1, little did I know, the pandemic would change my life for the better. But before it got better, it took a dip.
Being an only child has many pros and cons. Alone for most of the day while my parents did their own thing, I played games essentially all day. While browsing youtube, I stumbled to what would help me stop being shy, Discord, you know, that blue little icon that looks like someone using goggles, or probably you have a different interpretations of how the logo looks like. Anyways, I created an account and joined a youtuber server, a tech focused channel. Then I thought of how I could meet others doing game related stuff, so I searched and behold, I saw servers. I joined many servers, gaming, hobby, etc. and I'd just silently see what people would be saying. I was super shy to even send a text. GTA V roleplay was at its peak around the pandemic, so I also wanted to join one. Watching youtube videos and I can finally be in the game rather than watching it, so I joined a roleplay server.
At this time, I still had my chromebook, ChromeOS was very limiting and slow. So I mainly used my phone for discord and played xbox, I found a few friends and became more comfortable talking to others on voice chat, I met a few people who I would call online friends at the time. Me and 2 others, would play GTA V roleplay and it was super fun, then power hungry server owners and users made the roleplay community to split, causing chaos along the userbase. I naturally wanted to lead one, so I did. But after some exploring, I found that it's not for me. So I turned into coding.

The coding
After much blah blah, the content you're actually looking for. But if you read the context, you know much about the backstory. Now that I'm shifting my perspective on how and what Discord bots do, I became naturally interested in it. I watched a lot of youtube tutorials about what language they use, I realized that they used python with a little bit of node.js and Discord API. I remembered that I used python before, so it wouldn't be so foreign to me. So I created my first project, "Donut". The big names of Discord bots are Unbelievaboat and MEE6, I took inspiraiton and quite liked that style of bots.
Luckily, I found many resources and soon created my first bot. Although I didn't really advertise the bots, I kept it that it served my in house discord server, just a few friends and such. I created such features, like a money, moderation and server upkeep system. After many tries and attempts, it finally worked without too many errors and bugs. That took me 3 months. Now its around mid to late 2021. Much other than an online life, I also had real life to work with too. After much chores, saving money and all the general things that happen in life. I was in a position that with Black Friday coming up, I can finally afford what would be my current desktop, which has internal upgrades, but still the same shell. I'm lucky that I have my original bots still on my computer, and I'm so happy to share these creations with you. Even if they are quite old.

I'm really happy of how the pandemic shaped who I am, from an interovert who is very shy and afraid to communicate with others, more self care routine, better lifestyle, and most importantly, showing up when needed. I opened up my mind and became more free not only spiritually, but physically better. Obviously I didn't tell the full story because this was focused on discord and its apps, but yeah, thank you for reading!
